AESAERT x Brussels Airlines: the final year
At AESAERT, everything starts with craftsmanship. With hands, materials, and stories. What began as a deeply personal practice, designing and making handbags in our atelier, has gradually grown into something that travels far beyond it.
Sometimes, quite literally.
In the Summer of '23, we received an email that felt almost unreal. A request to collaborate on something entirely new: designing a travel pouch for Brussels Airlines. At first, it seemed too good to be true, the kind of message you hesitate to believe. But it turned out to be very real.
For the interior, we collaborated with artist Elisia Poelman, whose work brought a sense of color and narrative into the design. For skincare, we partnered with Barbara Geusens of Nomige, a brand that shares our belief in thoughtful, personal creation. What started as individual connections grew into a collaboration between three women, each bringing their own world into one object.
This collaboration was set as a three-year journey, one that allowed us to develop multiple designs and see them travel across the world. Over these three years, four different pouches have accompanied flights to destinations such as Africa, Washington, and New York. Each year, around 170,000 pieces find their way across the globe.
In 2026, we enter the final year of this collaboration, a moment that invites reflection as much as it does anticipation.
For a brand that began with handcrafted, small-scale production, this scale is significant. And yet, it hasn’t changed our core. At AESAERT, we have always balanced growth with intention. While part of our collection is now produced in collaboration with a trusted partner, our atelier remains central. A place where custom pieces are still made by hand, where every detail carries meaning.
Seeing AESAERT travel the world in this way is both humbling and exciting. It opens new doors, new conversations, and new dreams.
And while we don’t often speak about dreams out loud, this one feels worth sharing.
With love,
Griet
