Take a look inside of our tannery.

At AESAERT, leather is not considered a by-product of fashion, but a material with history, character, and permanence.
Every hide we select originates exclusively from surplus materials of the food industry in Scandinavia and Scotland

We consciously work only with vegetable tanned leather. Instead of aggressive chemical treatments, our leather is tanned using natural tannins and traditional methods that allow the material to evolve beautifully over time. The result is a living surface that develops a rich and individual patina with wear, becoming more personal with age.

Before reaching the atelier, each hide undergoes additional finishing treatments developed specifically for Aesaert. This process creates the supple hand-feel and refined softness that define every Aesaert bag. The leather is ultimately what gives each piece its distinct identity: understated, tactile, and enduring.

Our commitment to quality goes hand in hand with a commitment to responsible craftsmanship. We work exclusively with a tannery that is Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold certified and fully compliant with European REACH regulations. These certifications reflect high standards in environmental performance, chemical management, and traceability throughout the tanning process.

Through an innovative tanning process based on water recycling, our tannery has significantly reduced water consumption, saving more than 13 million litres of water each year. By combining traditional expertise with more responsible production methods, we create leather that is not only beautiful and long-lasting, but crafted with respect for the future.
