The Brooklyn Denim Teckel

The Brooklyn Denim Teckel

Some collaborations feel planned. Others happen more intuitively, almost as if they were always meant to find their way.

This was one of those.

When Brooklyn approached me with the idea of working with their surplus denim, it immediately resonated. Not just because of the material itself, but because of the intention behind it. A conscious decision to not let something valuable go to waste, but instead to rethink it, to reshape it, and to give it a second life.

At AESAERT, everything starts with respect for material. How it feels, how it behaves, how it ages. So the idea of combining their denim with our vegetable-tanned leather felt like a natural conversation between two worlds.

Denim and leather. Two materials, each with their own story, coming together in one piece.

The Teckel has always been a shape close to me. Translating that form into a combination of denim and leather was a process of balance. Finding the right tension between softness and structure, between variation and calm.

Working with Chloé and the Brooklyn team felt very aligned from the beginning. There is a shared way of looking at things. A belief in craftsmanship, in thoughtful design, and in slowing down the process where needed. That made this collaboration feel honest and effortless.

The result is The Brooklyn Denim Teckel. A limited piece, shaped by both our worlds. A bag where upcycling and craftsmanship meet, without compromise.

It is a different kind of object. One that carries not only materials, but also decisions. Choices that were made along the way.

And maybe that is what makes it meaningful.

With love,
Griet
